The Green Campus development strategy

Phase 1

The green campus development starts with creating a lively, green and visible new area. An area in which we have hotel facilities, exhibitions, leisure, restaurants, meeting places, shows and events and fascinating new and sustainable products, projects, events or systems that can be viewed and discovered. This is the heart of the green campus: projects, objects and areas that attract people. People that want to be here, can meet each other, stay for a night, enjoy shows, exhibitions or movies. Such an area needs a landmark, a gateway and a mobility infrastructure that provides attractive, sustainable forms of personal and public transportation. Excellent facilities will be present for local campus transport, and connections to the city of Delft and the rest of the world.

In the first phase, the following will be realized in a period of about five years:

  • The Green Campus Landmark
  • The Green Campus Grounds
  • The Green Campus Mobility
  • The Green Campus Outdoor
Phase 2

In the second phase we will gradually develop over time the “future labs” where companies together with scientists and students develop the sustainable solutions for tomorrow. Future labs is a (group of) buildings (new or existing) developed around a theme, such as clean light, electric transport, bio-products. In these future labs, companies, research groups, new startup companies, exhibitions/shows/entertainment, artist/communication/marketing are brought together to develop innovative new products, services, systems and above all new business.

Phase 3

Phase three will have a more continuous character. It is the period that the dynamic green campus will continue to develop itself. The area will now be fully exploited with new projects, activities and the continuation of future lab construction. The Green campus will build out its central function for the Science Port Holland region, including a scale up of its infrastructural an mobility facilities, that will connect more intensively the whole area.

In accordance, the nature and scope of events and developments will be made more attractive for a broader public and programming will be intensified.
